My Favorite Things

  1. Mario Kart. Ben was able to talk me into getting a Wii with the fact that I could have the option of downloading classic Mario games straight to our console. I love old school Mario and was even still holding onto my original Nintendo so I can play it. Now, Mario Kart can be purchased, but it is even better than the original - because you play with a wheel! Takes me back to the good old days.

  2. The New Coldplay album. Although I am really missing the piano, I am still excited to hear something new from them.

  3. Lipton White Tea Raspberry. Very refreshing with 5 calories and 0 sugar per serving.

  4. Riesling. It is actually a dessert wine, but I drink it with dinner. It has a sweet and fruity taste and you can find version of it that are very good and very reasonably priced.

  5. Cucina Soap. - Lime Verbena scented. Amanda Brooke got me this set for Christmas last year. I am nearing the bottom of the bottle and will need to replenish soon. Smells fresh and citrus-y.

  6. Edamame. I tried it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and now I am hooked. I actually crave it. It is very good for you and very filling. You can find easy to make steam packs in the frozen section of your local grocery store.
  7. Carpet Deodorizer. You know what I am talking about? Those canisters of scented powder you sprinkle on your carpet and vacuum up? It probably isn't good for your carpet, but it makes the house smell like summer time!

  8. Red Curry Paste. Just a tablespoon from this little jar will add a lot of flavor to any homemade Thai dish. We have been using it a lot lately to pacify my Surin cravings until date night allows me an actual meal there.

  9. Jodi Picoult. I stumbled upon this author while in Mexico on my honeymoon. Our hotel had a reading niche by the pool with a plethora of books for guests to read. There were only a few books in English to choose from so I grabbed one that caught my interest and really liked it. When I got back to the states I decided to try another book by Ms. Picoult and ended up finding my favorite book of all time! Has anyone read "My Sister's Keeper"? I cannot recommend it enough! They are making it into a movie next summer. It will star Cameron Diaz (not sure that she would have been my pick for the role she will be playing) but the movie should be good. I would suggest almost any of Picoult's books. I have read a couple I wasn't crazy about, but "My Sister's Keeper", "Picture Perfect", "Change of Heart", and "Second Glance" are all good reads. She does a lot of research for every book and touches on controversial topics that will really make you rethink what you thought you believed.

  10. Dove Energy Shampoo and Conditioner. Many of you may remember Dove Energy soap making my top 10 list a few weeks back. Imagine my excitement, when I found they make a shampoo and conditioner in the same refreshing scent! It smells great and leaves my hair feeling extra silky.
*Side note: If you read the comments of my previous soap blog, you would have read that Martina uses this soap but claims it is leaving a film in her shower. I would just like to say that after a month of using it, my shower has shown absolutely no signs of said "scum". I fully believe this is because 1) I clean my shower on a regular basis and 2) I take showers on a regular basis. Something I am afraid Martina is not accustomed to. If you will simply follow my example of proper shower hygiene and not fall into Martina's dangerous habits your shower will be safe of any nasty build-up.

If you love Riesling you are going to be so happy!!! It is probably my favorite white wine as well and so several months ago I had some juice imported from South Africa and I made 24 bottles of Riesling. I have now bottled them and they are just maturing. They will be ready for us to enjoy by the 4th if you guys want to try it out. That would be fun...hope you and Ben aren't running out of town.

Riesling is my favorite wine too! If you can ever find it, the German is the best to us. The soap and Martina part is hilarious! She does work very closely with you, I would watch my drink, food, work area, etc. very closely...lol

I LOVE Dove shampoos and conditioners. I haven't tried this new scent though. I might have to next time I run out. I'm also going to have to try out the grapefruit and lemon grass scented soap you've mentioned. I do use the Dove Go Fresh deodorant in the Green Tea/Cucumber scent. It's pretty good!

Haha, y'all are cracking me up!

Blake - That sounds great! I don't know what our plans are just yet for the 4th. That is our anniversary weekend and I am secretly hoping that Ben will whisk me away on a romantic trip. Please feel free to pass that information on to him.

Martina - DISGUSTING!

Sylvia - I have been wanting to try that deodorant. I am waiting to run out and then was going to try it. Good to know you like it. Thanks.

After reading your #10 I laughed out loud!! As a result 2 colleagues came into my office joining in on all the fun!! FYI… Martina and I do share that in common. I take showers everyday but don't wash my hair everyday... which in our defense makes your hair much healthier then those who do wash and dry their hair daily... b/c we don't blow dry, brush, straighten or curl as often:) HEAT HURTS HAIR!! Not all types of hair can handle this but I love that mine can! As far as Riesling goes there are few that I like… I’m a Malbec girl:)
Great Post Jamie, I was thoroughly entertained. Rach
