My Favorite Things

1. Brightly colored painted furniture. I now have the urge to paint all the furniture in my house.

2. Birdhouse Jewelry Organizer. Found this on Urban Outfitters website. Went to the store to buy it and they didn't have any. I am apprehensive about ordering it, but contemplating it nonetheless.

3. Francesca's. A little accessories and gift boutique at the Summit. Always my first stop when I need a little something to spice up an outfit.

4. Open Windows. I love opening up the house and letting the fresh air in. So glad the temps have cooled enough to do just that.

5. Netflix. I have mentioned before that Ben and I both love to snuggle up with a good movie. We love Netflix because we don't have to take the movie back and it keeps a list of all the movies we want to see and sends us the next one in queue. In a word, convenient.

6. Morning Coffee - I love my java in the morning. The caffeine is needed, but the aroma is oh-so-pleasing.

7. Cheesecake Factory Ranch Dressing. They sell it by the jar now! Today for lunch, I made my own version of one of their salads and it was delicious!

8. Spinach Pasta. Amanda Brooke made it for us at Supper Club last night. I am not a fan of whole-wheat pastas, so I was leary. But let me tell you something - it was better than regular pasta! Popeye would be proud.

9. Busy at work. No more boring days at work. With my new "position" at work I am staying super-busy. Which is great, the days fly by and I feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. The only downfall is that The Happy Wife blog is suffering - as I am sure you have noticed. Please accept my apologies.

10. Football season! It has officially begun. Let me get one good Roll Tide and Go Bucks out there before I sign off...have a great holiday weekend, y'all!

Birthday Celebration

It is tradition for Supper Club and their significant others to celebrate birthdays together. This year, we celebrated my birthday at Chez Fonfon. I just had to have their coconut cake! It was delicious! We had a great time as always...

My Favorite Things

  1. Colton West Penter. He arrived 08.14.08 and is absolutely, perfectly precious! Check out Martina's blog to read all about him.

  2. Will Hoge. He is awesome...seriously, just great. I love him! Southern rock at it's best.
  3. Ulta. Just a fun little store chalk full of girly stuff. Kinda like Sephora, but more reasonable prices.
  4. Chez Fonfon Coconut cake. It was my birthday cake this year!
  5. Le Creuset. Nothing sticks to this stuff. It is a miracle product.
  6. Watermelon. Ben bought me a watermelon last week so he wouldn't have to hear me talk about craving one anymore. I am half way through it (Ben doesn't like it so I am eating it all by myself) and I look forward to finishing it off!
  7. Marley's big eyes. Melts my heart. He looks like Puss in Boots from Shrek when he does it. Problem is - the big eyes come when he is wanting to attack and be playful. Therefore, my strong desire to cuddle him when he looks so sweet it quickly thwarted with a quick swat at my hand. Good thing he is declawed!

  8. Sketching. There are lots of ways I try to get my creative energy out. Right now sketching is my favorite. I love sketching rooms and furniture placements. Still life's are my strengths - people are NOT!
  9. Tufted furniture. New obsession. I especially love tufted chairs.

  10. Bird houses, nests and eggs. I am not a huge fan of birds, but I seem to be drawn towards their paraphernalia.

My 100th Post

How fitting that my 100th blog should fall on the most wonderful day of the year - my birthday! That's right, today I turn 26. Man that freaks me out! Does that mean I am in my late 20's? Nah, 26 is still in the middle, right? By my calculations it is anyway!

Anyhow, I just wanted to thank everyone that has sent me a birthday wish today. I had tons of encouraging emails to greet me at work this morning. I feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends to make my day feel special. Thanks everyone!!!

My Favorite Things

  1. Milk. Another item that I can't believe has evaded My Favorite Things list for so long. I love skim milk. Drink it like crazy! Some of my friends even have a quote from me about this, "Milk, milk, milk...I love milk!" (Spoken just before getting sick from milk.) Still love it!

  2. Blake's wine. This is a double entry - Blake entered his favorite thing for the week to be making your own wine. This is his newest hobby. I must say that I like this hobby as well, as I get to enjoy the wine that Blake makes. Yummy!

  3. Rate My Space. Visit the link to the left or just watch the TV show on HGTV. Either one will inspire you to add some extra flair to your home decor.

  4. Elvis. Oh, how I love Elvis. Loved him since I was a little girl. He was long gone before I was even born, but I still feel a very close connection to him.

  5. Godinger Pitcher. One of my early b-day gifts from my husband. I love white pottery and couldn't pass up this beauty! It will be lovely to serve drinks with, put flowers in or just sit in my kitchen for display.

  6. Hot chocolate. It's my way of pretending like summer is gone. I make a giant mug of it, curl up in bed and read Harry Potter. It almost fools me into thinking the heat is gone.

  7. Martha Stewart Garlic Peeler. Just place the garlic clove in the center of the tube, roll on counter with the palm of your hand and the garlic pops out the end, perfectly peeled!

  8. Homewood Church Shepherds. The Shepherds at our church are a great group of loving men. They love God and God's people with all their hearts. It is so nice to go to a church that is led by men I trust with all my heart. Thanks, Steve, Jim, Toby, Dan, Reuben, Stan and Butch!

  9. Iguanas Mexican Restaurant. We were introduced to this place by our good friends, Maghan and Hal Craig. Of course any Mexican restaurant is fine with me, but this place is so fun inside! It would be a great place for a party. If I had it to do all over again, I would have our Rehearsal Dinner here - it is so festive!

  10. Lamps. Overhead lights hurt my head, plus they aren't flattering to people or rooms. You might even say, "I love lamp!" (I really do love lamps, but please tell me someone got that joke?)

My Favorite Things

  1. Rojo. A great little place on the Southside. I took my sister there while she was in town because they offer a great vegetarian selection. She loved it!
  2. Taco Casa. I acutally can't believe I have made 14 My Favorite Things list and have never listed this. I crave Taco Casa. A combination burrito (mild) with a side of sour cream and jalapenos, a taco (no lettuce) and a large Mountain Dew. Taco Casa also has the best ice!
  3. Fall Previews. I am so excited about fall. Every year around this time, I get sick of summer and start counting down the days until autumn, football season, halloween....all the great things that come with that time of year. I can 't wait to break out my boots and sweaters.
  4. Stepbrothers the movie. Saw it Sunday night while Sister was in town. Pretty stinkin' hilarious.
  5. My Birthday Month. I'm like a little kid when it comes to my birthday. My mom spoiled me growing up - she always made our birthdays very special for us. And although, I am turning 26 (which means I now round up to 30) I am still counting down the days till my B-day! Only 9 more to go!

My Favorite Things

  1. Weeds. I will probably be shunned for liking this show. The language is offensive, it has "R" rated scenes, and is all about suburban pot dealers. But it is so funny!

  2. Martina's favorite thing this week is feeling Colton kick. I gotta say, that is a tough one to beat. It is so much fun watching her belly move as he rolls around in there.

  3. Jessa's favorite thing is knowing that God is listening to her prayers. She says, her hope and trust in God gets her by and that she is very blessed to know that there are so many people talking to God on her and Michael's behalf. Can I get an "Amen"?

  4. Sylvia mentioned that she likes Pine Sol lemon scented cleaner because "it makes the entire house smell sooo fresh and clean!" Who doesn't like that feeling? I have to admit that I don't use this cleaner, but I am a little partial to the smell because it reminds me of my grandmother's house.

  5. Chocolate Milk. Nestle Quik Powder with skim milk. Don't try to give me any of that fancy chocolate syrup kind!

  6. Sister visiting. Jodie gets here tonight and I cannot tell you how excited I am! My sister is a really cool kid. We are total opposites. She has dark hair, eyes and skin and is very laid back. I'm not even close to being any of those things! I always love having her around and enjoying her sweet spirit. Plus, did I mention that she is on a scholarship at THE Ohio State University? Sorry, I had to get that in there.

  7. Homemade Salsa. I love chips and salsa. Nothing compares to the real deal Mexican-restaurant kind, but I have been trying to master my own at home. Not quite there, but at least its better than the jarred kind.

  8. Alicia Hale Photography. Alicia just started her own photography business. She really has a knack for taking photos that tell a story. Her prices are great too! Check her out if you are looking for someone to capture un-posed and natural moments of you and your family.

  9. Betty's new job. Most of you have probably already read on Betty's blog that she was hired to work at the church. I am so happy for her! But I am also very happy for me! I can't wait to share a wall (our offices will be next to each other) with Betty in just a matter of days. Watch out Homewood Church, here she comes!!!

  10. Aquage Straightening gel. I am not a huge "hair product" person, but this stuff actually does work pretty well. I like to use it when I don't have time to straighten my naturally wavy/frizzy hair. Just a dab, rubbed all over my wet head calms the storm that is my hair.
