Sailing Away...Maternity Style

We are cruising to Mexico on Saturday. This was a last minute decision made this past weekend. Which meant I had to buy a maternity bathing suit and cocktail dress. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on either of these since I will probably only wear them on the ship. I think I did pretty good on such short notice though.

I got this bathing suit for $40. More than I was hoping to spend. But it is actually pretty flattering for a swimsuit. Well, it makes me look more pregnant than less fat. Which is pretty much all I can ask for these days.

I got this dress on clearance for $25! I was more excited about the price on this than anything else.
We are driving towards New Orleans Friday night and will spend the night somewhere close. We set sail on Saturday and return on Thursday. Depending on how we feel, we may spend an extra day in New Orleans before heading home. I am super excited about our last vacation as a twosome and looking forward to future vacations as a family!

The Scent of Rain & Lightning

by Nancy Pickard

Just read this book in 4 days. After reading "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett and then listening to "The Help" on CD I was skeptical about reading another book. I have never had this happen to me before. I just loved that book so much that I didn't want it to end. And when it did I didn't want to read anything else. I think part of it had to do with being so sick my first trimester and just not wanting to read. But I finally talked myself into reading something new. With the gift card my sister gave me for Christmas, I went to Barnes & Noble and picked up "The Scent of Rain and Lightning" and "The Long Song". I really wanted the latter, but the first book was on sale and was on B&N's Book of the Month. So I made a gamble. It was really good and I recommend it to anyone looking for an interesting murder mystery.

Next I plan to go back and get "The Long Song" by Andrea Levy. I will let you know how it turns out.

Week 16

We went to the doctor this morning and everything is continuing to move along well. Heartbeat sounded strong. We go back on June 7 to find out the sex and get our 4th ultrasound. I may have imagined it with some wishful thinking – but I think I might have felt the baby move the other night. Ben was rubbing my aching back while I laid on my stomach and I felt something different than I had felt before. Might have just been the filet I had for dinner, though. :)

On a side note: I have not gained weight yet. I lost the first trimester and still have some catching up to do. I don't want to take advantage of that and go overboard, but it did make me feel like I deserved a milkshake or something. I mean, I am by no means trying to not gain weight. Just a side effect of not having an appetite, I guess. My doctor did not act concerned in anyway. I just happened to ask her. I am trying to eat lots of fruit and fresh vegetables whenever I can. But an occasional Chick-fil-a milkshake can't hurt, right?
