Favorite Things Addendeum
On last week's "My Favorite Things" list I had Jodi Picoult as a favorite author. While I still like her books and highly recommend reading "My Sister's Keeper", I would like to remove the book "Change of Heart" from my list of suggested reads. I finished it last night and was not impressed. It was too long, predictable, and had an Are-you-kidding-me-with-this? kind of ending. But most importantly I am getting a little tired of the alternative religions in her books. While I try to be an open-minded person and would absolutely hate to be labeled as a Bible-Thumping-Christian, I do get a little of tired of people ragging on my Savior. In previous books, Picoult would merely explore other religious beliefs, but in this book I felt she was attacking Christianity, mainly the Catholic Church. She has every right to believe what she wants, and even write a novel about it. But she has officially gone down a couple of notches on my list due to it.

I don't think any of us would be afraid of being labeled a "Bible-thumping Christian" if by that people didn't understand that to mean so many things that absolutely are not Biblical...no?
Your blog rocks!!!
It is too bad that being a Bible-Thumper is considered a bad thing. A constant thought in my head - "How do we change the face of Christianity?"
Oh and thanks! Your blog ain't too shabby neitha!
I noticed that you're reading 'Embrace Me' by Lisa Samson. Let me know how you like it. I just started on her book 'Quaker Summer'. I've just started it but so far it's really good. Have you read it yet?
I don't know if I like it yet or not. I am only on like Ch. 3 right now. Her writing is different. Especially the dialogue (at least in this book, anyway) and it is hard for me to keep up with who is talking. You will have to let me know if Quaker Summer is any good.
